Today is my nephews birthday, and I can still remember when he was born, 11 years ago, and being at the hospital with my sister!

We will be celebrating with him on Sunday so I made him this little card with some Boys Rule Kit Club leftovers.

It is pretty simple but perfect for our video game loving nephew!

Halloween Mason Jar Tutorial

Hi there!

I have a really quick Halloween tutorial to share with you today, for those of you last minute planners like I seem to be lately.

If you have been coming here for any length of time, you already know that I have a bit of a thing for mason jars, and candles.  So for this project I combined the two!

My mason jar candle holder is a little Halloween decor item, but you could just as easily make one for any occasion or for everyday.

I started out using my silhouette software and choosing a few designs that I created to adorn my jar.

I you notice in the photo above, there is a light blue rectangle, this is a little tip for you: to be sure my vinyl cut outs would fit my jar nicely (I didn't want to waste my vinyl) I measured the jar and 'drew' a rectangle in the software, this gave me a guideline as to how large my cut outs could be.

Next I cut out my shapes from black vinyl (be sure to move the blue rectangle off your cutting mat in your software).  Because they are pretty small, I didn't really feel the need to use the transfer paper to help place them in the correct position on the jar, but of course you should if your design is intricate or large.

A little dark and light, photography for you!

DIY BUTTON EMBELLISHMENTS - Boys Rule Kit Club

Hi there!

I created this fun and easy embellishment for the Boys Rule blog, I hope you like it.

I was inspired by the Jillibean Soup wood sprinkles that come in so many beautiful colour combos.

So let's gather our supplies: you will need some buttons in your choice of colours and sizes (don't forget some wood buttons, they look great as well), a variety of pattern paper scraps, a small circle punch(or die cutting tool) and Glossy Accents.

Punch out a circle of patterned paper that fits nicely into the centre of your button, then adhere it into place by adding a small amount of Glossy Accents.

Now top off your paper circle with a good even coat of Glossy Accents and set it aside to dry.

This is how I used one of my DIY embellishments, I love that I can make these up quickly - to match any collection or kit I am working with-and I can make up several when I open a collection pack and they are pretty much ready to add to my page by the time I am done..  They have a nice bit of shine so they look a little fancier than just a plain or button.

Canadian Scrapbooker October Sketch

Hi there!

I meant to get this post up earlier in the day, but it turned out to be one of those crazy days. You know, the kind where you wake up exhausted because despite your best efforts to get to bed at a decent time, you don't sleep.

Then your youngest child wakes up once again, feeling nauseous, for no reason, for what is about 20 days in a row.  It always passes, but the pain in his lower belly doesn't. He is a trouper really, but we have lost more homeschooling days this month, alone.

We have been to the doctors who asked us to come back this week if it hadn't passed - then she went on vacation.  He even fainted last week - of course it was when I was on the road, on my way to girls weekend :(

So today we went to urgent care, which is usually quick, but was also crazy busy today.  They ran urine tests and a very thorough ultrasound.  We are no closer to finding out the reason for the pain, but at least we know it is not appendicitis.  So that's a positive, right?

Anyway, on to my creative sharing....

I had the urge to play along with a fabulous sketch by Sue Sykes, created for Canadian Scrapbooker.  I have had these photos waiting to be scrapped for a while now, but didn't really feel inspired by them.  Then this sketch and this collection by Lawn Fawn landed in my packing pile (for girls weekend) at the same time!

Along with the Lawn Fawn papers and flair, I used die cuts from Amy Tan, washi and cork from Freckled Fawn, die cuts and vellum from Pink Paislee, cork and a chipboard camera from Studio Calico, and enamel dots from My Mind's Eye.

And I know see that I omitted a title, I never do that, but I am okay with it!

And here is Sue's fantastic sketch.....

Thank you for visiting today!  You have just a couple of days left to play along if you wish to be considered for Sue's prize or publication.

STAMPING TIPS AND TRICKS - TUTORIAL - SCRAPMUCH/

Hi friends,

I have created a little stamping tutorial to share with my friends at ScrapMuch? today, and you know I am going to share it here too!

For this technique you will need any clear acrylic stamp of your choice that is symmetrical (yes, I didn't clue in to this right away, but it matters) and a couple of ink pads in coordinating colours.

For the first step of this technique, you will place the stamp onto your block upside down. Ink it up and stamp, this will give you an outline or offset image.

For the second step, flip your stamp over so that it is right side up, ink it up and line it up on top of your outline image and stamp.

You should end up with something that looks like this, in your image of choice.

I also gave this a try with a background stamp that I had.

This time I reversed the stamping order and stamped the image first and the background second.

It is important to note that your outline or background colour needs to be lighter than the image colour.

I decided to take my first stamped design and create a happy little card to share with you!

Sunshine and sequins, it doesn't get much better!

Thanks for visiting today!

OUR RAD GUY - Boys Rule

Hi there!

It's my turn to share a project over on the Boys Rule blog today, I have another page created with the awesome September/October kit.

Here are some close up shots...

I also used this sketch, created by my friend Jenessa.

WISH - Boys Rule Kit Club + Stuck?! Sketches

Hi there!

I have a layout to share today, created for DT assignments at both Boys Rule Kit club and Stuck?! Sketches challenge blog.

I had a lot of fun mixing and matching the graphic patterns from the September / October Boys Rule kit to create this birthday themed page.  I used the Stuck?! sketch to save a little time and double dip my projects. ;)

Here are a few close ups:

This kit contained so many great stickers and some fun (and not girlie) bling!

Here is the October 15th sketch for the newest challenge at Stuck?! Sketches:

Stuck?! Sketches has two generous sponsors offering great prizes:

I hope you join in on the fun at  Stuck?! Sketches!   And don't forget to pop in over at  Boys Rule Kit club  to see what Laura-Lee and Lynn are creating - they are sure to inspire!

Altered Photo Frame Tutorial

Hi there!

I am sharing a fun little tutorial today to create a quick home decor item.

Let's gather our supplies, I picked up a photo frame from Homesense that was on clearance for $2.00  because the glass was broken (which suited my needs perfectly).  You can check the dollar store or second hand stores, too.  Or you might just have one lying around the house.

Next you will need a vintage looking bulldog clip, some E6000 glue and something for your background.  I am using some leftover Fancy Pants corrugated paper, burlap or cork would also look great.  I decided to keep mine neutral, but of course you may want to coordinate with your decor.

So let's get started, measure your frame insert and cut your background paper to size.

Now reassemble your frame.

Adhere the clip using the E6000 to the centre of the background, an inch and bit or so below the top of the frame.

And that's it - it is as easy as that, you can now use it to showcase your most favourite photo (if you are like me that changes weekly) or you can use it as a message centre or a place to hold event tickets until the big day.
