Glisten | SpiegelMom Scraps

Hey there and Happy March!

I am guesting over at SpiegelMom Scraps this month and so I will have a few extra projects on my blog! Today I am sharing the first of them and as a bonus we are doing a fabulous product swap between SpiegelMom Scraps and Creative Embellishments and blog hop!!

I had a blast combining the products from these two fabulous companies to create my first page and hope you enjoy all of the inspiration along the hop! Check out my project and let me know what you think by leaving a comment. You can win a $25.00 gift card to SpiegelMom Scraps just by commenting on all the designers blogs, that are participating in the hop. It's a pretty sweet way to win some scrappy goodies!! Be sure to read right to the bottom of my post to see a special offer just for you!

Now for my project....

On this page I wanted to share how to make sequin shaker elements a design feature on a background. I began by die cutting several circles into my cardstock background.

Then I stamped a bunch of snowflakes with silver ink in alternating sizes, to coordinate with the various sizes of the circles I cut into my background, onto scrap white cardstock. I embossed the snowflakes with clear embossing powder and then fussy cut them out.

I glued the snowflakes behind my circles so that they were partially covering the circles, this served two purposed first off I like the way it looks and secondly it meant I didn't have to use so many sequins, allowing me to save some for another project!

Then I adhered plastic behind the openings and snowflakes, which of course will hold the sequins in their little compartments.

I used craft foam strips to create a well behind these circles and poured in What's Up Buttercup sequins, Green Acres Sequins, Stargazer sequins and Purple Rain sequins from the SpiegelMom Scraps shop and then backed them with more white cardstock.

I added some silver texture paste to my background with a snowfall mask.

Once my background was finished, I matted my photo onto a glassine bag from the SpiegelMom Scraps shop, a silver and white striped piece of vellum, a beautiful silver doily from the SpiegelMom Scraps shop, a plain white tag and an acetate snowflake from Maya Road and well as one of the grasses from Creative Embellishments.

I treated the grass chipboard bits from Creative Embellishments with the same silver ink that I used on my snowflakes, I also embossed the grasses but this time I used a chunkier glittery embossing powder that is also clear.

I tucked a few silver buttons and a clip onto my page for extra sparkle, and I also added some fuzzy felt hearts from the SpiegelMom Scraps shop I love the way they look. I pulled in a few stickers which make the teal sequins pop!!

I treated my Creative Embellishments chipboard title the same way and the grasses with silver ink and chunky clear embossing powder. For a last bit of pop, I added some sequins around my page much as you would add enamel dots and then a few splatters of a dark silver mist.

I stitched around my cardstock base and then mounted the whole thing onto a pretty snowflake patterned paper in a great teal colour.

You can watch my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here.
